Public Education Overview

The primary goals of the ARORA Public Education Department are:

• To educate the public about organ and tissue donation; and
• To encourage Arkansans to register as organ, tissue and eye donors online at or at their local Department of Motor Vehicles office.

Public Education staff provides these services through educational presentations, at schools, community organizations, religious organizations, civic and social club events and to other groups and individuals. Through these presentations, the staff works to increase awareness of the importance of organ and tissue donation, as well as to dispel myths that could potentially deter Arkansans from registering as donors.

Most ARORA Public Education staff members are located in the Little Rock office, but travel the state in their education efforts. An additional staff member is based in Northwest Arkansas and serves that portion of the state. To contact our Northwest Arkansas Public Education Specialist, please call 479.422.4706. In addition, ARORA provides educational services specifically targeted to African American residents of Arkansas. For more information about this service, please call 501.907.9148.

Volunteer recruitment is critical to a successful donor education program. ARORA actively seeks persons interested in volunteering to assist with our educational efforts. Most of our volunteers are donor family members and organ and tissue recipients. All volunteers must complete a thorough training provided by ARORA.
